Appointments

Appointment System

We are now encouraging patients to contact the surgery online through our website or NHS app, using AccurRx Patient Triage (click on the link opposite). This allows patients to send us online requests, explaining why they need an appointment.  This request is then reviewed by a GP/ANP and, if an appointment is needed, one will be offered to the patient within an appropriate time-frame.

We still offer some pre-bookable appointments but the majority of our GP appointments will now be triaged before being booked via the AccuRxTriage Request. Patients who are unable to go online to do this themselves will have the option of our reception team completing a request on their behalf.  In this way, all patients, whether going online or calling reception will have their request dealt with in the same way.

There is no longer any advantage to calling at 08:00 or 16:00.  You can contact the surgery at any time during opening hours and have peace of mind that your request will be reviewed by a GP and the appropriate action will be taken.

Please note; not all AccuRx Triage requests result in an appointment as this would be no more feasible than giving an appointment to every single patient who previously telephoned to request one. We have a finite number of appointments, and this new appointment system will ensure appointments are given to the patients that really need to see or speak to a GP.  Some patients may be sign-posted to other services that are better suited to their needs, and some patients may be given advice on self-care.  We may be able to deal with some patients’ request without an appointment at all.

Calls may take a little bit longer to begin with, so we encourage anyone who is able to go online to complete an AccuRx request for themselves to please do so.  You can also complete requests on behalf of someone else, such as child, or someone you care for.  Co-operating in this way will free up the phone lines for those who simply cannot get online to do this themselves.

On-Line Booking System

We have introduced some appointments for patients to book “on-line” via the link at the top of this page. In order to access this facility patients will need to register (in the first instance), via this website. Once registered, patients will be able to book a number of appointments Monday to Friday.

Nurses Appointments

Appointments can be made up to 4 weeks in advance to see any of our nurses.

Home Visits

Whilst we encourage our patients to come to the surgery, where we have the proper equipment and facilities available, we do appreciate this is not always possible for patients who are housebound. In this respect, if you do need a home visit, you can help us by calling reception before 10:00am.

Your GP will only visit you at home if they think that your medical condition requires it and will also decide how urgently a visit is needed. Please bear this in mind and be prepared to provide suitable details when requesting a visit to enable the doctor to schedule house calls.
